TAKING A.I.M. Taking A.I.M. began in November 2003 as the “Central Illinois Men’s Ministry Communicator” (CIMMC) in response to ongoing frustration that efforts were going into events at various churches but few people were hearing about it outside the host church. When the word was spread it was often too late to make or change plans. While at its heart a “men’s ministry’ newsletter, that does not limit it to the ‘3 B’s of Men’s Ministry” – Breakfasts, Ballgames, and Bible Studies. Balanced implies well rounded, so events that are couples or marriage focused, or father & son / daughter are also included. Prayer, worship, and other general Spiritual Disciplines are also included. What is NOT included? Most Sunday morning or Wednesday evening activities are not included, particularly if they extend over a number of weeks. This is not to imply these do not have value, but our goal is to help build up churches, and we don’t want to be seen as encouraging Church A over Church B. We also do not play favorites of one church over another. If you see a particular church repeatedly it is for two reasons – they are active in organizing events, and they let me know about them. The newsletter will also not provide every last detail on every event. Our goal is to fill the gap of not hearing anything. Typically the newsletter is only 4 pages long, with 3 dedicated to upcoming events. The basics of each event – particularly dates, locations, and contacts– is included, but beyond that information will vary depending on space available and how well it fits within men’s ministry. For example, area concerts are generally well publicized, so while “Concert Notes” are included from time to time, they are very brief. A well known men’s speaker speaking at a small church will always receive more print To sign up for the newsletter, click here.
